Course Information
Description Presentation of lesson plan assignments and evaluation techniques.
Prerequisites Valid Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
Cosmetology Operator License and High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate;
Learning Outcomes Present lesson plans using multi-media technology; develop evaluation techniques used in a cosmetology program; and demonstrate practical applications in a classroom setting.
Core Objectives
Program Student Learning Outcomes 1. Model professional and ethical behaviors.
2. Practices all sanitary and safety measures that protect individual and public health.
3. Demonstrates and instructs proficiency in all cosmetology skills.
4. Prepares to pass state board requirements.

LESSON OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the lesson, the student will be able to:
1. List the steps in the curriculum-development process.
2. Explain the purpose of the use of an advisory council in the curriculum-development process.
3. Define the three domains for instructional outcomes and write learning objectives for each.
4. Conduct a sound orientation program for new students.
5. Explain the value and advantages of lesson planning.
6. List and describe each component of a lesson plan.

Chapter 11: EDUCATIONAL AIDS AND TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM
LESSON OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the lesson, the student will be able to:
1. List the 10 advantages for using educational aids.
2. List the eight important concepts to consider when preparing and selecting visual aids.
3. Explain the guidelines for effective use of multipurpose boards and flip charts.
4. Understand the basic rules for preparing and using slides.
5. Employ the general guidelines that should be considered when using projected materials.

Instructor Training Practical/Theory Requirements: Practical lab experience r prepares you for the teaching profession.
The following are the requirements for both practical and theory.

Client Consultation, Fingerwaving, Thermal Curl, Facials, Manicuring, Waxing, Retail Sales Record Keeping, Pedicures, Permanent Waving, Braiding, Wet Service Draping, Hair Color
Chemical Relaxing, Blow Dry Style, Client Scheduling, Haircutting

Administration Duties
Lesson Plans, Inventory Control, Filing, Cosmetology Registration, Recording Student Hours,
Minimum 3 lectures/demos. Student Salon Observation

Course Policies
Instructor Policies Every student MUST have a copy of the required textbooks by the second week of class. The student will still be responsible for any assignments given.

Students are responsible for completing all assigned reading assignments. Read over chapters before class.

Class participation is required. It is important to be active within the course.

Assignments: All assignments must be submitted at the scheduled time (Online & Face to Face). Any assignments emailed after the scheduled time will receive a late penalty of -30 points.

Assignments, Exams, and due dates will be posted on Blackboard. Check your notifications, announcements, and email daily.

Please contact your instructor if you are having problems with the class, material, or internet.

Exams: Make-up exams will NOT be given. All exams must be taken on the day that it is assigned and within the time frame listed. Please see your instructor before the scheduled exam if there is a problem.

Students are responsible for all materials covered in class. If you quit coming to class and do not officially withdraw, your grades will be averaged, and you will receive the grade represented by this average.
Administrative details are your responsibility.

Attendance Policy ATTENDANCE POLICY

"All Students Must Sign Into Blackboard Daily"

Regular class attendance is important to the attainment of the educational objectives of the college. The cosmetology program has formulated an attendance policy that is consistent with the objectives of the program and the needs of the student to fulfill all necessary requirements needed.
Poor attendance is a leading reason for termination from a job in all areas of employment. With this factor in mind, the instructor monitors student course activity daily.

Every student will be assigned a code to use for clocking during in person instruction. Please Note, the time clock is used for attendance only,
To fulfill the TDLR requirements, students must be in attendance to receive credit, any days missed must be made up. See instructor for details.

Attendance is 10% of your overall grade, and will be monitored daily. (Online & Face to Face)
Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.

  2. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission.
